Cambridge Symphony Orchestra to Present ‘La Bohème’

By David Salazar

Massachusetts’ Cambridge Symphony Orchestra (CSO) will open its 2025–26 season with “Beginnings,” a semi-staged performance of Puccini’s “La Bohème.”

The performance on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. local time at MIT’s Kresge Auditorium will be conducted by Music Director Cynthia Woods. The cast stars Kayla Harriott as Mimì, Eric Botto as Rodolfo, Melissa Joseph as Musetta, Ron Loyd as Marcello, Junhan Choi as Schaunard, Devon Russo as Colline, and Zizhao Wang as Benoit and Alcindoro.

The performance brings together more than 200 musicians, including the CSO, the Boston City Singers Children’s Opera led by Sepehr Davalloukhoungar, the New World Chorale under Holly Krafka, and the Middlesex County Volunteers Fifes & Drums.

“Puccini’s masterpiece, ‘La Bohème,’ transcends time and place to tell a universal tale of deep love and friendship in the face of illness and poverty, and what we all lose when we as a community turn our backs on those that need us the most,” Woods said per an official press release.
