Calgary Opera will present the Donizetti classic “The Elixir of Love” this February.

The production, which opens on Feb. 3 and runs through the 9th at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium for a total of four performances, will be directed by Pablo Maritano and conducted by Farkhad Khudyev.

“’Elixir’ is a heartwarming story of young love, with music to match. The combined forces of Calgary Opera, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, and artists from here and abroad are not to be missed: a perfect antidote to frigid temperatures and the winter blues,” said Sue Elliott, Calgary Opera’s new General Director and CEO, in an official press statement.

Three of the performances will feature Simone Osborne, David Portilllo, Andrew Love, Ao Li, and Christina Thanisch-Smith. For the matinee showcase on the 4th, audiences will hear members of the McPhee Artist Development program. They include Nicole Leung, Elias Theocharidis, Connor Hoppenbrouwers, and Brand Olson.
