
Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music Unveils 2025 Offerings
By David SalazarCabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music has announced its 2025 slate, which takes place between August 1-10 2025.
This year’s slate features a total of five performances, with two featuring classical vocal showcases. The focus of this article will be on those two.
First up is “Chasing Light,” which includes soprano Michelle Areyzaga and baritone Sidney Outlaw taking on the world premiere of Stacy Garrop’s “Fredrick and Susan B.” Also on the program are works by Rene Orth, Julia Wolfe, and Aleksandra Vrebalov.
Performance Date: August 2, 2025
Closing out the season is “Rising.” That show will climax in a performance of Jake Heggie’s “Good Morning, Beauty” with mezzo-soprano Nikola Prinz. This festival co-commission will be preceded by works by Hailstork, Jennifer Higdon, and Tyson Gholston Davis.
