Bayerische Staatsoper Announces Cast Change for ‘Le Grande Macabre’

The Bayerische Staatsoper has announced a cast change for Liegti’s “Le Grande Macabre.”

The company noted that Sam Carl will sing the role of Astradamors replacing the previously announced Brindley Sherratt.

Carl is currently rehearsing a new production of “Il trittico” at the Dutch National Opera. This summer he is set to perform in the Glyndebourne Festival’s production of “Giulio Cesare. Throughout his career, he has been part of the Opera Studio at the Dutch National Opera, a Jerwood Artist at the Glyndebourne Festival, and an Equilibrium Artist mentored by Barbara Hannigan.

He joins a cast that includes Sarah Aristidou, Seonwoo Lee, Avery Amereau, John Holiday, Lindsay Ammann, Benjamin Bruns, Michael Nagy, Andrew Hamilton, Thomas Mole, Nikita Volkov, Kevin Conners, and Bálint Szabó. Kent Nagano conducts the production by Krzysztof Warlikowski.

“Le Grande Macabre” opens on June 28 and runs through July 7, 2024.
