Buxton Festival Announces 2021 Season

The Buxton Festival has announced that it is moving forward with its 2021 season starting July 8 and running through July 25, 2021.

The English festival will present Errollyn Wallen and Wesley Stace’s “Dido’s Ghost.” The new production is a co-commission in partnership with the Barbican Centre, Mahogany Opera, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra & Chorale, and Dunedin Consort. “Dido’s Ghost” will be presented at the Buxton Opera House.

Performance Dates: July 11-17, 2021

Handel’s “Acis & Galatea” will be showcased in a co-production with Buxton International Festival and the Early Opera Company. The production of the Handel work will be set at the Buxton Opera House.

Performance Dates: July 12-20, 2021

Malcolm Arnold and Wesley Stace’s “The Dancing Master” will be presented in a Buxton International Festival production in collaboration with John Andrews and Red Squirrel Company and the Northern Chamber Orchestra.

Performance Dates: July 9-22, 2021

Pauline Viardot’s “Cendrillon” will get a new production and will be presented at the Pavilion Arts Centre.

Performance Dates: July 12-24, 2021

Stephen Sondheim’s “A Little Night Music” will be showcased in a Buxton Opera House and Buxton International Festival production at the Buxton Opera House.

Performance Dates: July 8-24, 2021

Jonathan Dove and Alasdair Middleton’s “The Enchanted Pig” will be presented in a Buxton International Festival Platform 3 production. The work will be shown at the Pavilion Arts Centre.

Performance Dates: July 10-17, 2021
