
Bryn Terfel Founds New Oxford International Opera; First Production is ‘Tosca’

The company, which is co-founded by Oxford Philharmonic Music Director, Marios Papadopoulos, will launch in September with a production of Puccini’s “Tosca.”
The first production will star Sir Bryn Terfel, Carmen Giannattasio, and Saimir Pirgu. The cast will also feature Jamie Woollard, Fabio Previati, Colin Judson, and Steffan Lloyd Owen.
Marios Papadopoulos conducts the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra and P Burton-Morgan directs.
The new company will bring “Tosca” to the stage of the New Theatre in Oxford on Sept. 24 and 26, 2026.
Terfel is known for portraying Scarpia having performed it at the Royal Opera House, Metropolutan Opera, and Wiener Staatsoper.
