Bryn Terfel, Adela Zaharia, Benjamin Appl, Jennifer Johnston, Katerina Kneziková Headline Royal Liverpool Philharmonic’s 2022-23 Season

The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic has announced its 2022-23 season.
For the purposes of this article, our focus will be on classical vocal performances.
The Opening Concert will feature soprano Katerina Kneziková in a performance of Mahler’s Fourth Symphony. Domingo Hindoyan will also conduct Janácek’s Sinfonietta.
Performance Dates: Sept. 17, 2022
Soprano Katie Coventry and the sopranos and altos of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir will appear in music by Vaughan Williams. Andrew Manze conducts.
Performance Dates: Oct. 15, 2022
Domingo Hindoyan will lead a performance of Puccini’s “Messa di Gloria” with such soloists as Jesús León and Adam Kutny. The performance will also include music by Debussy.
Performance Dates: Nov. 24, 2022
Ian Tracey will lead “Spirit of Christmas,” which will feature the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Choir and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir, among others.

Clemens Schudt will conduct Händel’s “Messiah” with such soloists as Dorothee Mields, Anna Stéphany, Benjamin Appl, and Caspar Singh.
Performance Dates: Jan. 7, 2023
Corinna Niemeyer will conduct a concert featuring Mozart’s Requiem as well as music by Haydn and Marianna Martines. Soloists include Victoria Randem, Eléonore Pancrazi, Stuart Jackson, and Benjamin Appl.
Performance Dates: Feb. 18, 2023
Domingo Hindoyan will present a concert featuring Puccini’s “Gianni Schicchi” and music by Puccini, Mascagni, and Ponchielli. Sir Bryn Terfel will headline the opera alongside singers from the European Opera Centre.

Andrew Manze will conduct Bach’s “St. Matthew Passion” with Andrew Staples, Susanne Bernhard, Marianne Beate Kielland, and Mark Stone.

Adela Zaharia will headline a program featuring music by Strauss as well as symphonic works by Bernd Richard Deutsch and Scriabin. Vasily Petrenko conducts.
Performance Dates: May 4, 2023
Narus Williams, Kathryn Rudge, Elgan Llyr Thomas, and Roderick Williams headline “A Child of Our Times.” The concert features music by Tippett, Eleanor Alberga, and Vaughan Williams. Martyn Brabbins conducts.
Performance Dates: June 24, 2023
Simon Emery, Alison White, and Ellie Slorach conduct a performance featuring the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Choirs and the Kantos Chamber Choir.
Performance Dates: July 2, 2023
Chamber Music
Mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnston will perform music by Tania León, George Benjamin, Nneka Cummins, and Berio alongside conductor Geoffrey Paterson.
Performance Dates: Oct. 26, 2022
Baritone Benjamin Appl and pianist James Baillieu will present their signature “Winterreise.”
Performance Dates: Feb. 23, 2023
Soprano Felicity Davies will appear alongside the Ross Trio in a lunchtime concert featuring music by Nina Ashton, Judith Bingham, Jeanine Rueff, Céline Chaminade, and Clara Schumann.
