Brooklyn Art Song Society to Showcase Music of Grieg & Sibelius

By David Salazar

The Brooklyn Art Song Society is set to present the final performance of its 2019-20 Home Series on March 6, 2020 at the Brooklyn Historical Society.

The performance will shine a spotlight on the music of Edvard Grieg and Jean Sibelius with such performers as soprano Kristina Bachrach, soprano Sarah Brailey, contralto Sara Couden, baritone Brian Mextorf, and pianists Michael Brofman, Dimitri Dover, and Daniel Schlosberg. This will be Couden’s company debut.

Among the works that will be spotlighted in this concert are Grieg’s “6 Leider” and “Haugtussa.” Meanwhile, the performers will showcase selected songs by Sibelius.

Previous concerts in the Home Series focused on music by Britten, Canteloube, as well as Polish composers, Czech composers, and music inspired by Gypsy culture.

The company will also be showcasing “The Dichter Project” later this year.
