Brooklyn Art Song Society To Open 2020 With Concert Dedicated to Polish Composers

The Brooklyn Art Song Society is set to present its third concert in the “Home” series.

The concert, which is set for Jan. 3, 2020 at the Brooklyn Historical Society in Brooklyn, NY, will feature music of Polish composers Chopin and Szymanowski. Sopranos Laura Strickling and Amy Owens will be featured on the program alongside pianists Michael Brofman, Spencer Myer, and Miori Sugiyami. This performance will be Owens debut with the company.

The ensemble will perform selected songs and mazurkas by Chopin with Szymanowski’s “Métopes” and “Songs of a Fairy Tale Princess” also on display.

This is the third of the “Home” series. The season started with “Roma” and “Chants d’Auvergne.” Next up on the series will be a concentrated on music by Bartok, Kodaly, and Janacek; the final concert in the series will showcase music of Grieg and Sibelius.
