
Brooklyn Art Song Society Continues New Voices Festival with “Long II”
By Francisco SalazarThe Brooklyn Art Song Society will continue its New Voices Festival with “Longing II” on May 10, 2026 at Roulette.
The concert will also include a pre-concert lecture at 4:30 p.m. by composer Benjamin Attahir.
At the center of the program is “After the Fires” by Lembit Beecher and Liza Balkan, reflecting on the personal impact of natural disaster. The program also features the world premiere of Attahir’s “Potomac Blues,” a new BASS commission, alongside works by Missy Mazzoli, Hector Parra, and Huang Ruo.
The evening will showcase soprano Sarah Brailey, mezzo-sopranos Devony Smith and Rachel Calloway, tenors Andrew Fuchs and Dominic Armstrong, baritone Michael Kelly, pianists Mike Brofman, Joel Harder, and Danny Zelibor, and clarinetist Moran Katz.
