Brooklyn Art Song Society Closes Season with New Voices Festival: Longing III

On June 14, Brooklyn Art Song Society will present the culmination of this year’s New Voices Festiva: Longing III.

The concert which, will also include a pre-concert lecture at 4:30 p.m. local time by composer Michael Djupstrom, will be presented at the Roulette.

Longing III closes out our season with a program full to the brim with the best of current American art song, bringing together ten contemporary composers in one extraordinary afternoon. The concert features the World Premiere of a new BASS commission by Michael Djupstrom, alongside BASS commissions by James Kallembach and Jessica Meyer, as well as works by Tom Cipullo, Will Liverman, Gilda Lyons, Quinn Mason, Carlos Simon, Alex Weiser, and Scott Wheeler.

The soloists on the evening will include sopranos Elisabeth Marshall and Laura Strickling, mezzo-sopranos Kristin Gornstein and Sarah Nelson Craft, baritone Joseph Parrish, pianists Michael Brofman and Jeremy Chan, and violist Jessica Meyer.
