Bronx Opera to Present ‘Ariadne auf Naxos’
By Francisco SalazarThe Bronx Opera has announced its May production of Richard Strauss’ “Ariadne auf Naxos.”
The opera will be performed mostly in English on May 7, 9 & 10 at the Lovinger Theater at Lehman College in The Bronx.
The work will be conducted by Eric Kramer and directed by Benjamin Spierman.
The cast will include Michael Celentano as The Tenor/Bacchus, Hannah Friesen as Zerbinetta, Miastasha Gonzalez-Colón as The Composer, Jonathan Lawlor as Harlequin, and Renee Macdonald as The Primadonna/Ariadne.
For this presentation Bronx Opera is presenting the revised version, which contains a “prologue” and an “opera.” The company will underline the differences by performing in a combination of the original German and its own English translation.
