Brianna Robinson & Zaray Rodriguez to Discuss Race in Opera on Boston Lyric Opera’s ‘At Its (s)Core’ Series

By Logan Martell

Boston Lyric Opera continues its new podcast “At Its (s)Core,” with this week’s episode featuring African-American soprano Brianna J. Robinson, and Cuban-American mezzo Zaray Rodriguez, as they discuss their experience as artists of color in the opera world.

The bi-weekly podcast series is available for listening on the company’s website, as well as Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, and Stitcher. The series seeks to present the views of underrepresented artists, with previous episodes featuring gay opera singers Simon Dyer and Vincent Turregano, as well as Zimbabwean conductor Vimbayi Kaziboni.

Robinson, an alumna of BLO’s Emerging Artists initiative, recently performed the role of Lucy in their production of “Fellow Travelers.”

Meanwhile, Rodriguez is a graduate of University of Miami and Boston University’s Opera Institute, as well as a district winner for the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 2017 and 2018.
