Tenor Brian Cheney is set to continue his weekly recital series with a concert dedicated to the music of Gabriel Fauré.

The showcase, scheduled for Friday, June 3, 2021, will feature Cheney alongside long-time collaborator Cathy Venable. The program represents the sixth in the duo’s composer series.

The duo has dedicated concert performances to the music of Leonard Bernstein, John Kander, W.A. Mozart, Oliver Ostermann, and Stephen Sondheim.

A student of tenor Jerry Hadley, Cheney performed Don Ottavio in “Don Giovanni” at the Metropolitan Opera with conductor Franz Vote. Over the pandemic, he has taken on over 30 roles in works ranging from opera, operetta, art song, Broadway, film, and Disney Musicals.

Pianist Cathy Venable is currently the Associate Conductor for the first National Tour of “Frozen” and has held a similar position with the national tours of “The Phantom of the Opera” and “The Sound of Music.” She has served as Assistant Conductor with companies such as Salt Marsh Opera and Light Opera Oklahoma and in numerous Broadway pits.

Tickets for the event will be available to purchase on a “pay what you can” basis.
