Sae-Kyung Rim will replace Adrianne Pieczonka in the final two performances of Puccini’s “Tosca” at the Vienna State Opera.

Rim will step in on Jan. 31 and Feb. 3 and will perform alongside Latvian tenor Aleksandrs Antonenko as Cavaradossi and Marco Vratogna as  Scarpia. The opera will be conducted by Placido Domingo.

Rim made her Vienna State debut as Cio-Cio San in Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly in 2015 and has since performed at La Scala, Verona, La Palmas, and the Munich State Theater. After “Tosca” she heads to Leipzig for “Madama Butterfly”and then goes to the Bergen National Opera for a recital. She is also scheduled to sing Leonora in Verdi’s “La Forza del Destino” in Las Palmas and Verdi’s “Aida” in Leipzig.

The Vienna State Opera will revive “Tosca” in the spring with Jonas Kaufmann and Angela Gheorghiu and will also stream the opera through its streaming service.

Pieczonka is scheduled to return to the stage in March for a revival of Beethoven’s “Fidelio.” She will also perform Amelia in Verdi’s “Un Ballo in Maschera” at the Bayerische Staatsoper and Die Kaiserin in Strauss’s Die Frau ohne Schatten
