Breaking News: Arturo Chacon-Cruz To Sing ‘Werther’ At the Grand Theatre Liceu

Arturo Chacón-Cruz will perform the tittle role of Massenet’s Werther tonight at the Liceu.

The Mexican tenor will replace Jose Bros, who is ill. The Mexican tenor is making his debut at the prestigious Grand Theatre Liceu, in a role he has already sung around the world.

Chacon-Cruz is currently rehearsing a new production by Sofia Coppola of Verdi’s ‘la Traviata.” The production opens in February and will star alongside Marina Rebeka and Placido Domingo. He will then bring the production to the Rome Opera in the fall. He is also slated to perform the role of Faust in the Berlioz’s “la Damnation de Faust” at the Bolshoi Opera and  Rodolfo in Puccini’s “La Boheme” at the San Francisco Opera.

The current run of “Werther” opened on Sunday with Piotr Beczala who is currently alternating with Bros. Bros returns to the production on the 19th and sings performances on the 24, 27, 29 of January and on Feb. 1 and 4.
