Tchaikovsky’s “The Queen of Spades” is set to return to the Lyric Opera of Chicago.

Lyric’s principal conductor Sir Andrew Davis returns to the work that inaugurated his first season as Lyric’s music director in 2000, leading Richard Jones’ acclaimed production.

The opera is set to star Brandon Jovanovich as Gherman and Sondra Radvanovsky in her role debut as Lisa. Jane Henschel makes her Lyric debut portraying the cryptic Countess. Gherman’s fellow soldier Tomsky will be sung by bass Samuel Youn. Baritone Lucas Meachem returns as Lisa’s fiancé Prince Yeletsky and Lisa’s friend Pauline will be portrayed by mezzo-soprano Elizabeth DeShong.

The production will have scenery and costumes designed by John Macfarlane and original choreography by the late Linda Dobell, which will be re-created by revival choreographer Anjali Mehra.

Performances are set to open on Feb. 15 and run through March 1, 2020.
