Brandon Jovanovich Leads Metropolitan Opera’s ‘Moby-Dick’

The Metropolitan Opera is set to present Jake Heggie and Gene Scheer’s “Moby-Dick” for the first time.

The company premiere will feature the opera’s original staging directed by Leonard Foglia, in his Met debut.

Karen Kamensek will conduct the work and will star tenor Brandon Jovanovich as Captain Ahab, tenor Stephen Costello as Greenhorn, baritone Peter Mattei as Starbuck, and bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green as Queequeg. The cast also features soprano Janai Brugger as Pip, tenor William Burden as Flask, and baritone Malcolm MacKenzie as Stubb.

“Moby-Dick” will be presented from March 3 through March 29, 2025. The March 11 and 29 performances of “Moby Dick” will be broadcast live on Metropolitan Opera Radio on the SiriusXM app, and audio from the March 11 performance will also be streamed live on the Met’s website.

Audio from the March 29 performance will also be broadcast over The Robert K. Johnson Foundation–Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network.
