The Boston Symphony has announced a cast change for its performance of Britten’s War Requiem.

The BSO noted, “On the advice of her physician following news of her pregnancy, soprano Albina Shagimuratova has made the difficult decision to withdraw from the BSO’s upcoming performances of Britten’s War Requiem. Majeski has performed at the Royal Opera, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Metropolitan Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Teatro Real, and many more.  The soprano’s repertoire includes the works of Mozart, Janacek, Gluck, Britten, and Wagner.

Majeski joins a cast that includes Matthias Goerne and Ian Bostridge. Sir. Antonio Pappano conducts the BSO.

Performances are set for March 31, April 1 and 2, 2022.
