Boston Lyric Opera to Perform ‘La Bohème’

The Boston Lyric Opera is set to present a new time-flipped production of Puccini’s “La Bohème”by director Yuval Sharon.

The production, which opens with the opera’s tragic ending and moves backward in time, is set to be performed at the Emerson Colonial Theatre from Sept. 23 to Oct. 2, 2022.

The opera will feature stage design by BLO Artistic Advisor John Conklin and Costumes by Jessica Jahn. The lighting design will be by John Torres.

BLO Music Director David Angus will conduct the BLO Orchestra and Chorus with a cast that includes Lauren Michelle in the role of Mimì and Chelsea Basler as Musetta. Jesus Garcia will sing the role of Rodolfo while Edward Parks will be Marcello and Benjamin Taylor will sing Schaunard. The cast will be rounded out by William Guanbo Su as Colline, Fred C. VanNess, Jr. as Parpignol, and Junhan Choi as Alcindoro.
