Boston Camerata Announces 2021-22 Season

By David Salazar

The Boston Camerata has announced its 2021-22 season which will feature three concerts.

First up will be “We’ll be There,” featuring American music including a wide range of spirituals.

“The concert title evokes the struggles of the Civil War,” said Artistic Director Anne Azéma in a press release, “but it also stands for the shared musical and spiritual experiences of America’s peoples. It also provides a unifying theme for Camerata’s ongoing work in these challenging modern times.”

Performance Dates: Nov. 6, 2021

Next up is “A Medieval Christmas: Hodie Christus Natus Est” which will be performed in Cambridge and Lexington. The showcase will feature an all-female cast.

“We hope the angels on the CD cover make an appropriate visual counterpart to the heavenly medieval sounds, both recorded and live, of these works from the twelfth and thirteenth centuries,” noted Azéma.

Performance Dates: Dec. 17 & 19, 2021

The season comes to an end with “Douce Dame Jolie: Machaut’s Last Affair,” a 14th-century love story between an aging genius and his young admirer.

Performance Dates: March 6, 2021
