Boston Baroque has announced a cast change for its production of Gluck’s “Iphigénie en Tauride.”

The company announced that Wendy Bryn Harmer has withdrawn from the production due to injury. In her stead, Soula Parassidis, who is the CEO of Living Opera, will take on the title role, marking her debut with Boston Baroque.

She previously sang the role in March 2023 at the Pallas Theatre in Athans. She has performed with such companies as the Festival Aix-en-Provence, Guangzhou Opera House, Oper Leipzig, Teatro Regio Torino, Teatro Massimo Palermo, L’Opéra National de Bordeaux, and Theater an der Wien.

Parassidis joins a cast starring William Burden, Jesse Blumberg, David McFerrin, and Angela Yam. The production will be directed by Mo Zhou and conducted by Martin Pearlman.

“Iphigénie en Tauride” opens on April 20, 2023 and runs through April 23. The April 21 performance will be streamed on IDAGIO.
