Bojana Dimković, Radoslava Vorgić & Predrag Gosta Lead Belgrade Early Music Festival 2020 Edition

The Early Music Festival will take place from Sept. 17 – Sep. 29., 2020, in Belgrade, Serbia.

The festival was originally scheduled in May 2020, but had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Here is the full rundown.

Italian Extravaganza” will kick off the festival with a program that includes Vivaldi’s Concerto for 2 Violins and Cello in D minor, Op. 3 no 11/RV 565; Handel’s Trio Sonatas for two Violins and Basso Continuo, Op. 5: no 1 in A major, HWV 396; Corelli’s Trio Sonatas for two Violins and Basso Continuo, Op. 2: no 12 in G major; Telemann’s Trio Sonata “Corellisante” No. 3 in B minor, TWV 42:h3; Leclair’s Trio Sonata in D minor, Op. 4, No. 1; and Vivaldi’s “La folia.”

Predrag Gosta will conduct the New Trinity Baroque Orchestra.

Performance date: September 17, 2020

Antonio Caldara’s Oratorio “Maddalena ai piedi di Cristo” will spotlight sopranos Radoslava Vorgić and Ana Torbica, mezzo-soprano Dragana Popović, tenor Ljubomir Popović, countertenor Predrag Đoković, and baritone Predrag Gosta, who will also conduct and play the chamber organ. Simone Pirri will play the violin.

Performance date: September 19, 2020

Soprano Radoslava Vorgić will perform the cantatas by Telemann.  Meila Tome Pichler will play the flute and Zoltán Borbély will perform on harpsichord. Ensemble Musica Antiqua Neoplatensis will accompany the performance.

Performance date: September 21, 2020

Pianist Bojana Dimković will perform in “Women Composers of the Eighteenth century – Works for Fortepiano.” The program includes Gambarini’s Sonata in F major, Op. 1-3 and Menuet and Variations, Op. 2, Martinez’s Sonata in A major, Auenbrugger’s Sonata in E flat major, and Barthélemon’s “The Capture of the Cape of Good Hope.”

Performance date: September 23, 2020

Baritone Christian Hilz will perform a program that includes Monteverdi’s “Vespro della Beata Vergine” (Vespers 1610), “Selva morale e spirituale,” and selections from the Scherzi musicali and Madrigals. Srdjan Stanic will play Viola da gamba; David Brutti will play the Cornetto. Predrag Gosta conducts.

Performance date: September 25 & 29, 2020

The rest of the program will include performances of works by Delalande, Frescobaldi, Baltzar, Uccellini, Stradella, Scarani, Palestrina, Hume.

All concerts begin at 8:00 p.m CET at the Church of St. Peter in Belgrade.
