Bogdan Baciu Replaces Alexey Markov In Semperoper Dresden

The Semperoper Dresden has announced a cast change for the June 2 performance of “Carmen.”

The company announced that Bogdan Baciu will sing Escamillo in the performance replacing Alexey Markov who is ill.

Baciu is a member of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein where has performed numerous leading roles and has also sung at the Staatstheater Stuttgart as well as the Oper Frankfurt. He has also sung at the Royal Opera House. His repertoire includes the music of Verdi, Bizet, Donizetti, Puccini, Strauss, and Wagner among others.

Baciu is set to join Daniel Johansson, Maria Kataeva who sings the title role, and Iulia Maria Dan. Antonino Fogliani conducts the production by Axel Köhler.

Markov is set to return for the final performance of “Carmen” on June 8, 2019.
