Bizet, Puccini Featured in Regina Opera’s 50th Anniversary Season

Regina Opera has announced its 50th anniversary season. The Brooklyn-based organization, which was founded in 1970, will present three new productions of beloved operas. All performances will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Academy of Brooklyn.

All of the performances, with the exception of the opening nights for each production, will start at 3 p.m. local time.

It all kicks off with Bizet’s “Carmen” in mid-November, which will get a total of five performances. The opening show will feature the cover cast with piano accompaniment, free of charge.

Performance Dates: Nov. 19- Dec. 1, 2019

Puccini’s lone comedy “Gianni Schicchi” is next on the slate and it will be paired with a Golden Jubilee Concert. The first performance on Feb. 25 will feature the cover cast accompanied by piano, but it will be free of charge for all attendees.

Performance Dates: Feb. 25- March 8, 2020 

The season draws to a close with Puccini’s “Turandot” in a version that features the Alfano ending. As with the other operas, the opening show will feature the cover cast and piano accompaniment; it will be free of charge. Performances will mark the company premiere of the opera.
