Bilbao Opera Breaks Records with ‘Rigoletto’

The Bilbao Opera has announced that the recent production of Verdi’s “Rigoletto” broke records.

The production, which ended on Feb. 26, broke box office records and saw the final performance completely sold out. Additionally, the entire production sold 90 percent.

The company also announced that the third and fourth performances received a double encore during the “Si, vendetta tremenda vendetta” duet and the first two saw encores during the same duet.

The president of the Association, Juan Carlos Matellanes said, “Despite the controversy surrounding the staging that preceded its premiere, we have achieved very positive figures from spectators and thanks to the extraordinary quality of the performers and the production, we can boast of having had a ‘Rigoletto’ that is a benchmark of international culture.”

“Rigoletto” was conducted by Daniel Oren and starred Amartuvshin Enkhbat, Sabina Puértolas, Ismael Jordi, Carmen Topciu, and Emanuele Cordaro.
