Bilbao Opera Announces Changes to Board of Directors

The Bilbao Opera has announced changes to its board of directors.

The board of directors elected a new vice president and secretary on July 23. Former secretary José Antonio Isusi Ezcurdia will now become the vice president of the board substituting Txema Vázquez Eguskiza, who is leaving due to professional reasons.

Meanwhile, Guillermo Ibáñez Calle has been elected the secretary of the board.

The Bilbao Opera is currently streaming opera on its website and is expected to open its 2020-21 season in October with Rossini’s “Il Turco in Italia.” The company has already announced plans for its 2021-22 season which will include Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly,” Offenbach’s “Les Contes d’Hoffmann, “Mozart’s “La Clemenza di Tito,” the famed double bill of Mascagni’s “Cavalleria Rusticana,” and Leoncavallo’s “Pagliacci,” as well as another opera pairing featuring Poulenc’s “La voix humaine,” and Zemlinsky’s “Eine florentinische Tragödie.”
