The Bilbao Opera has announced a cast change for its upcoming production of “La voix humaine” and “Eine florentinische tragödie.”

The company noted that Nicola Beller Carbone will sing the roles of Elle in “La voix humaine” and Bianca in Zemlinsky’s work. Carbone replaces Ainhoa Arteta who is recovering from a medical condition that she had back in August.

Arteta told the Bilbao Opera that she is recovering well but due to the artistic challenges of the new roles, she prefers to withdraw. She added that she is “impatient to return to the Bilbao Opera and see her fans as soon as possible.

The double bill is set to open on Feb. 19, 2022 and will also star Giorgio Berrugi and Egils Silins. Pedro Halffter conducts the production by Paco Azorín.
