Beth Morrison Projects Unveils 2024-25 Slate

First up is the West Coast premiere of “Black Lodge” at The United Theater on Broadway in Los Angeles. Michael VQ directs the opera by David T. Little and Anne Waldman. The showcase also features a pre-show experience called “BARDO.”
Performance Date: Oct. 19, 2024
“BMP: NEXT GEN, CYCLE 3” is set to take place at the National Sawdust in Brooklyn.
“We at BMP are always in search of the newest generation of voices in composition of opera-theatre,” said BMP’s President and Creative Producer Beth Morrison in an official press release. “Next Gen is our effort to connect with these most brilliant young minds. I cannot wait to review the incredible amount of creative, provocative, and genre defying works we have received in previous years. Reviewing these materials has and continues to assure me we are living in a new golden age of contemporary American opera-theatre.”
Performance Date: Nov. 23 – 24, 2024
The New York premiere of “Black Lodge” comes in 2025 at the Village East by Angelika.
Performance Date: Jan. 11-15, 2025
The West Coast premiere of Mary Kouyoumdjia and Royce Vavrek’s “Adoration” will take place with LA Opera at the REDCOAT. Laine Rettmer directs and Alan Pierson conducts.
Performance Date: Feb. 19 – 23, 2025
Then comes the world premiere of Paola Prestini and Brenda Shaughnessy’s “Sensorium Ex” in Omaha, Nebraska as part of the Common Senses Festival. Jerron Herman and Jay Scheib direct. The production is co-produced with VisionIntoArt.
Performance Date: May 22 – 25, 2025
