Beth Morrison Projects and St. Ann’s Warehouse has announced new dates for its upcoming production of Huang Ruo’s “Book of Mountains & Seas.”

Originally intended for the 2022 PROTOYPE Festival, the choral work is set to make its U.S. premiere on March 15-20 with a total of six performances. The work made its world premiere back in 2021 at the Danish Opera House.

Across four musical and visual tableaux, “Book of Mountains & Seas” features an adaptation of myths through a modern lens. The work will be directed by Basil Twist.

“We are just thrilled to be able to bring this magical piece to New York audiences in partnership with St. Ann’s after the postponement of our PROTOTYPE Festival (co-produced by HERE). It has been personally inspiring to work with these two visionary creators on this deeply relevant exploration of our relationship to our planet, and I’m certain that its scintillating score and moving puppetry will inspire many others as well,” said producer Beth Morrison in an official release.

The production will be dedicated to the memory of Stuart Nelson.
