Beth Morrison Projects Announces ‘BMP: Next Generation’ Finalists For March 2018 Concert

The Beth Morrison Projects has announced the “BMP: Next Generation” Composer Initiative Finalists, who will be showcased on March 17, 2018 at the National Sawdust in Brooklyn.

The program will feature 10 vocal pieces from such emerging composers as Jessie Downs, Noah Kaplan, Molly Joyce, Michael Lanci, Matt McBane, Emma O’Halloran, Gemma Peacocke, Matthew Recio, Daniel Sabzghabaei, and Leaha Maria Villareal. All the composers hail from different parts of the U.S.

The works will be adjudicated by a number of major industry individuals including Christopher Koelsch (President/CEO, LA Opera), Missy Mazzoli (composer), Beth Morrison (BMP), Julian Wachner (Music Director, Trinity Church Wall Street), Ed Yim (President, American Composers Orchestra). Per a press release, two of the 10 composers will be commissioned to write 30-minute works, whether they be a song cycle or one-act opera, which will premiere in the 2018-19 season.

The program on March 17 will be led by Lidiya Yankovskaya and David Bloom under the stage direction of Luke Leonard.
