Berna Perles Takes Over ‘Manon Lescaut’ in Baluarte

The Baluarte auditorium in Pamplona has announced a cast change for its upcoming performances of “Manon Lescaut.”

The Spanish theater announced that Berna Perles will replace Ainhoa Arteta in the title role of Puccini’s work. According to Platea Magazine, Arteta was forced to cancel after testing positive for COVID-19.

Perles is a renowned Spanish soprano who has performed at the Ópera de Oviedo, Teatro Cervantes, and Teatro Principal among other important Spanish theaters. She is well known for her interpretations of Mozart operas.

She joins a cast that includes Roberto Aronica as Des Grieux, José Antonio López as Lescaut, Carlos Chausson as Geronte, and Pablo García López as Edmondo. Manuel Hernández-Silva conducts the work.

Performances are scheduled for Feb. 5 and 7, 2021.
