Berlin Philharmonic Announces Cast Change For Verdi Requiem

Mezzo-soprano Clémentine Margaine has canceled the Verdi Requiem with the Berlin Philharmonic.

The mezzo canceled the performance scheduled for Nov. 30, 2019 and as a result will be replaced by Annalisa Stroppa.

The performance will mark Stroppa’s Berlin Philharmonic debut. The mezzo has performed at the Teatro alla Scala, Bayerische Staatsoper, Teatro Real, Teatro Carlo Felice, and Salzburg Easter Festival, among others. This season she performs at the Teatro San Carlo, Teatro Principal, and Staatsoper Hamburg.

Stroppa joins a cast that includes soprano Zarina Abaeva, tenor Sergej Romanowsky, and bass Evgeny Stavinsky. Conductor Teodor Currentzis leads the performance in his Berlin Philharmonic debut and is joined by the musicAeterna chorus.

The performance will be live streamed on the Berlin Philharmonic’s streaming platform.
