
Berkshire Opera Festival to Present Carlisle Floyd’s ‘Flower and Hawk’
By David SalazarBerkshire Opera Festival will present Carlisle Floyd’s monodrama “Flower and Hawk” on Saturday, May 2 at Ventfort Hall Mansion & Gilded Age Museum in Lenox, Massachusetts.
Soprano Ashley Marie Robillard, a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and recipient of awards from the Gerda Lissner Foundation and Opera Index, takes on the role of Eleanor of Aquitaine. She is accompanied by pianist Grant Loehnig, Head of Music Staff at Opera Philadelphia and Master Opera Coach at the Curtis Institute of Music, whose credits include Lyric Opera of Chicago and Wolf Trap Opera.
The 50-minute work, sung in English without intermission, centers on Eleanor of Aquitaine during her imprisonment in Salisbury Tower.
The showcase commences at 2 p.m. local time with a post-performance Q&A with the artists and light refreshments to follow the concert.
