Bergen Philharmonic Cancels Barcelona Concert

By Francisco Salazar

The Bergen Philharmonic has canceled its Friday, Dec, 3, 2021 concert at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona.

The theater noted in a press release, “we regret to announce that the concert with the Bergen Philharmonic has been canceled due to the Norwegian government’s recommendation to cancel the orchestra’s European tour in the current pandemic context due to the COVID-19.”

The concert was set to be conducted by Edward Gardner and the program would have featured Ligetti’s “Melodien,” Strauss’ “Last four songs,” and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony no. 4, in F minor, op. 36. Malin Biström was set to sing the Strauss songs, replacing the originally announced soloist, Lise Davidsen.

Next up, the Palau de la Música Catalana presents a concert presentation of Puccini’s “La Bohème” and a Flamenco concert.
