The mezzo has appeared in the Met’s Carmen productions including a 2019 HD production.

Mezzo-soprano Vasilisa Berzhanskaya sings the double role of the Muse and Hoffmann’s friend Nicklausse in her company debut while Christian Van Horn makes his Met role debut as the Four Villains. Van Horn has been seen in HD performances of “Lucia di Lammermoor” “Wozzeck,” “The Exterminating Angel” and “Die Zauberflöte.”

Marco Armiliato conducts Bartlett Sher’s production.

Gary Halvorson will direct the Live in HD presentation for cinemas, and tenor Ben Bliss will host the transmission, sharing exclusive behind-the-scenes content and interviews during the intermissions.

Of the production, OperaWire said, “Led by Benjamin Bernheim & Christian Van Horn, This Production Saves the Best for Last.”
