Benjamin Appl & Lauren Snouffer Lead Dallas Opera’s Historical ‘Pelleas and Melisande’

The Dallas Opera is set to perform Debussy’s “Pelléas and Mélisande” for the first time.

The Debussy premiere will be presented at the Winspear Opera House from Nov. 8 through Nov. 16, 2024 and will star Internationally renowned baritone Benjamin Appl makes his mainstage debut with The Dallas Opera as Pelléas, alongside soprano Lauren Snouffer as Mélisande.

They will be joined by basses Nicolas Courjal as Golaud and Sir Willard White as Arkel, mezzo-soprano Katharine Goeldner as Genevieve, and Sripal Medara Metla as Yniold.

Conductor Ludovic Morlot makes his TDO debut and Jetske Mijnssen will direct the production, which is a co-production with the Bayerische Staatsoper.

Appl is well-known for his lieder performances and is set to perform “Die Zauberflöte” at the Staatsoper Hamburg this season and concerts in Oslo and Liverpool. Meanwhile, Snouffer is set to perform “Breaking the Waves” at the Houston Grand Opera.
