
Ben Hartley Appointed Executive Director of Silkroad

He was selected from a pool of more than 400 applicants. He succeeds Kathy Fetcher, who stepped down in December 2022.
Hartley was Executive Director of the National Arts Club in New York City, a non-profit membership club with a mission to encourage and promote public interest in the fine arts. He has held leadership positions at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Museum of Arts and Design, and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. He was president of Louise Blouin Media, vice president of Ruder Finn Arts & Communications Counselors, consultant to BMW, Cartier and PepsiCo.
“He is a visionary leader with a passion for the arts and a track record of excellence in nonprofit management, with decades of experience working in the arts sector to create empathy, foster understanding and inspire change” said Lori Samuels, the president of the board of directors, in an official press statement.
Hartley will lead the global arts organization. Chief among these is American Railroad’s first national tour, scheduled to debut in November of this year.
“I am happy to welcome Ben Hartley to the Silkroad family. I look forward to seeing what new paths can be forged for Silkroad with Ben at the helm,” added Rhiannon Giddens, Silkroad’s Artistic Director.
