By David Salazar

Bella Voce will present Christmas with the “Baroque Masters,” a two-city collaboration with Madison Bach Musicians on Dec. 13 and 14, 2025.

The concert features choral works by Heinrich Schütz and Guillaume Bouzignac, Isabella Leonarda’s Magnificat, Arcangelo Corelli’s Concerto Grosso “Christmas Night,” and Handel’s Concerto in B-flat Major for Organ and Strings with Trevor Stephenson as soloist. The centerpiece will be Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s “Messe de minuit pour Nöel.”

Andrew Lewis conducts.

The Dec. 13 showcase will take place at St. Joseph Chapel in Madison, starting at 3 p.m., while the Dec. 14 performance will be at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Evanston, starting at 4 p.m. Stephenson will offer a pre-concert lecture 45 minutes before at both events.

Madison Bach Musicians, founded in 2004 by Artistic Director Trevor Stephenson, is a Wisconsin ensemble devoted to performance and education in Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical music, presenting major works from Bach to Monteverdi, offering extensive outreach across the state, and now marking its 22nd season with concertmaster Kangwon Kim.

Bella Voce is a leading Chicago chorus with its own period-instrument orchestra, the Bella Voce Sinfonia, performing historically informed programs spanning early chant through contemporary works.
