Belinda Lau & Tobin Sparfeld to Lead Pasadena Chorale’s 2025-26 Season Opener

The Pasadena Chorale will open its 2025–26 season with a performance of Brahms’ “Ein Deutsches Requiem.”

The showcase, set for Nov. 19, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, will feature the famed work in Brahms’ arrangement for piano four hands, performed by pianists Tali Tadmor and Lisa Edwards

Artistic Director Jeffrey Bernstein will lead the showcase with soprano Belinda Lau and baritone Tobin Sparfeld as the soloists.

“We chose to open the season with Brahms’ Requiem as an offering of comfort and solace for our community, which has lost so much in the wake of the Eaton Fire,” said Bernstein. Per an official press release. “This gorgeous work, by turns stormy and poignant, has been a touchstone for the Chorale. We first performed it in 2010 during our second season, but we haven’t sung it in a decade. It’s a thrill to revisit it with so many new singers, and with two magnificent soloists from the Chorale. It will be a thrilling and touching concert, and the Chorale is in top form.”

Following the performance, the Pasadena Chorale will host a Post-Concert Gathering at the OSA Rooftop of the AC Hotel Pasadena, open to audience members who make a gift of $50 or more when reserving their free concert tickets. Guests will enjoy the opportunity to meet and mingle with Bernstein, the soloists, pianists, singers, and board members.
