Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Croo announced new COVID-19 restriction measures in Belgium that limit the number of spectators in theatres and concert halls to a maximum of 200 persons, among other measures.

“The coronavirus numbers keep going up,” said De Croo. “Nine out of ten provinces are at alarm level four, and the last province, Limburg, is also going in the same direction. We have one goal, which is to limit contacts that are not strictly necessary,” added de Croo.

The measures will take effect immediately and apply for four weeks, through November 19, 2020.

The country has already shut down bars and restaurants, and imposed an overnight curfew in a bid to contain the rising number of new COVID-19 infections.
