Bel Cantanti Opera to Present ‘Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail’

Washington D.C.-based Bel Cantanti Opera will present Mozart’s “Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail” this February.

The opera, which will be conducted by Dr. Katerina Souvorova, will star Alejandra Sandoval and Emily Casey as Konstanze, Catherine Wethington, and Robin Steitz as Blonde, Kevin Short as Osmin, Chris Plaas as Belmonte, Daniel Sampson as Pedrillo, and Peter Joshua as Bassa Selim.

The opera opens on Feb. 4, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. It will be followed up by a performance the next day at 3 p.m. and another two on Feb. 11 and 12 at 7:30 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively. All performances will take place at the Jewish Community Center in Rockville, Maryland.

The company is also set to present Rossini’s “La Cenerentola” later this Spring as well as a showcase entitled “Franz Lehar – King of Operetta.”

Earlier this season, the company presented “I Capuleti e I Montecchi,” “Backpack of Joy!” and “Amahl and the Night Visitors.”
