The Bayreuth Festival has announced a cast change for its production of “Parsifal” on August 7, 2024.

In a statement, Andreas Schager said, “My dear friends, Unfortunately, due to an infection, I have to cancel tonight’s performance of ‘Parsifal.’ I would like to sincerely apologize to anyone who bought tickets for this because of me. “I would like to thank my colleague Tilman Unger, who lent me his voice for the remainder of the act. My heartfelt thanks also go to the Bayreuther Festspielen, namely Katharina Wagner, for the elegant, quick, and goal-oriented help. After a thorough examination by the HNO doctor of the festivals, I give careful warning for the upcoming performances. I’m looking forward to seeing you soon, Yours Andreas.”

“Parsifal” is set to star Derek Welton, Tobias Kehrer, Georg Zeppenfeld, Jordan Shanahan, and Ekaterina Gubanova. Pablo Heras-Casado conducts the production by Jay Scheib.
