Bayerische Staatsoper to Expand Seating Capacity

By Francisco Salazar

The Bayerische Staatsoper has announced new COVID-19 regulations that will allow more audience members into the theater.

The company noted that due to the Bavarian state government’s new rules, it will be allowed to occupy 75 percent of the theater. The Bayerische Staatsoper noted that by the end of the month, it will be performing with a 50 percent seating plan.

For performances from March 1, 2022, it will be able to occupy 75 percent of the seats accordingly.

The news comes as COVID-19 regulations continue to ease as cases are steadily going down. However, according to the state’s regulations admission into cultural events will still require only people to show proof of vaccination or recovery from COVID-19.

The Bayerische Staatsoper is currently performing a production of “Il Turco in Italia” and is set to revive “Tosca” later in February.
