By Francisco Salazar

The Bayerische Staatsoper has postponed the opening of “Peter Grimes.”

The company noted that “due to several Corona cases in the technical and artistic departments and the associated high number of contact persons, the premiere of Peter Grimes will be postponed to Sunday, 6 March 2022.”

The opera was originally set to open on Feb. 28 and there was also set to be a performance on March 3, 2022.

“Peter Grimes” will now be performed three times in the winter and twice during the Munich Festival. The production is set to star Stuart Skelton in the title role, Rachel Willis-Sørensen, Iain Paterson, Brindley Sherratt, Jennifer Johnston, and Claudia Mahnke. Edward Gardner is set to conduct the production by Stefan Herheim.
