Bayerische Staatsoper Announces Conductor Change for ‘Pelleas et Melisande’

The Bayerische Staatsoper has announced a conductor change for its production of “Pelléas et Mélisande.”

According to a statement from conductor Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla, “For personal reasons, I have to limit my activities in the coming months and therefore very much regret that I have to cancel my participation in the new production of Claude Debussy’s ‘Pelléas et Mélisande’ at the Bavarian State Opera. However, I look forward to returning to the Bavarian State Opera with a new production in the 2024-25 season.”

As a result, Hannu Lintu will conduct the new production, which will be directed by Jetske Mijnssen.

The opera is set to star Franz-Josef Selig, Sophie Koch, Ben Bliss, Christian Gerhaher, and Sabine Devieilhe. “Pelléas et Mélisande” will open on July 9, 2024.
