Bayerische Staatsoper Announces Change to ‘Il Barbiere di Sivilgia’ Performance Due to Strike

By Francisco Salazar

The Bayerische Staatsoper has announced that the performance on Nov. 15 of “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” will be performed in concert form.

The company said that due to the strike in the collective bargaining round for public sector employees, the performance of “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” will take place in concert form. The Bavarian State Orchestra will play Gioachino Rossini’s opera in the orchestra pit.

The soloists Josh Lovell as Count Almaviva, Misha Kiria as Bartolo, Tara Erraught as Rosina, and Sean Michael Plumb as Figaro, among others, will perform in costume and make-up on a widened proscenium in front of the “Iron Curtain.”

The company noted that audience members who do not want to attend the performance can return their tickets.
