Bayerische Staatsoper Announces Cast Changes for ‘Turandot’ & ‘Macbeth’
By Francisco SalazarThe Bayerische Staatsoper has announced cast changes for its productions of “Turandot” and “Macbeth.”
The company noted that Saioa Hernandez will take over the title role, replacing Sondra Radvanovsky. Meanwhile, Radvanovsky has withdrawn from the role of Lady Macbeth and Anastasia Bartoli will sing it making her company debut in her stead.
Hernandez recently performed the title role of “Turandot” at the Teatro La Fenice and is set to perform the opera at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. She is set to join a cast that includes Vitalij Kowaljow, Yonghoon Lee, and Selene Zanetti. Antonino Fogliani conducts the production by Carlus Padrissa – La Fura dels Baus.
Bartoli is known for her interpretation of Lady Macbeth which she has performed to great acclaim at the Opera de Marseille. This season she sings Abigaille in “Nabucco” at the Berlin State Opera.
“Turandot” runs from Oct. 6 through Oct. 19, 2024 while “Macbeth” opens on Dec. 14 and runs through Dec. 20, 2024.
Radvanovsky is set to return to the stage in October for performances gala performances with Piotr Beczala in Madrid, Sevilla, Barcelona, Valencia, Wroclaw, Gdansk, Vilnius, and Baden-Baden.
