Bayerische Staatsoper Announces Cast Change for ‘Lucia di Lammermoor’

The Bayerische Staatsoper has announced a cast change for its upcoming revival of “Lucia di Lammermoor.”

The company noted that Juan Diego Flórez and Charles Castronovo will replace Xabier Anduaga, who is ill.

Flórez will sing performances on March 12 and 16 while Castronovo will sing performances on March 19 and 24, 2022.

Flórez has sung the role of Edgardo at the Liceu, Wiener Staatsoper, and the Bayerische Staatsoper while Castronovo has sung the role most notably at the Royal Opera and in Brussels.

Both tenors join a cast that includes Andrzej Filonczyk, Nadine Sierra, Granit Musliu, and Riccardo Zanellato. Evelino Pidò conducts the production by Barbara Wysocka.

Anduaga returns to the stage for performances of “Don Pasquale” at the Royal Opera House.
