Bayerische Staatsoper Announces Cast Change for ‘La Traviata’

The Bayerische Staatsoper has announced a cast change for its June 16 performance of “La Traviata.”

The company announced that Plácido Domingo will sing the role of Giorgio Germont replacing George Petean.

Domingo will join a cast that includes Ailyn Pérez in the title role and Liparit Avetisyan as Alfredo. Keri-Lynn Wilson conducts the production.

Domingo is well known for his portrayal of Germont and has performed the role to acclaim at the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera, Wiener Staatsoper, Bolshoi Theatre, Teatro alla Scala, and Arena di Verona, among others.

This season, Domingo returns to the Arena di Verona, Teatro alla Scala, Salle Paris, and the Mariinsky Theatre, among others.
